The Edges

The interesting problems are the ones nobody's built the right tool for yet. They show up at the boundaries between domains, in the data points that don't fit the expected pattern. That's where Anomalous Ventures operates.

Most consultancies want a well-defined spec and a familiar tech stack. I want the opposite: the project where the hardest part isn't the code, it's figuring out what the code needs to do. Give me a problem in a domain I've never touched and I'll learn the domain.

The Approach

I'm one engineer, not an agency. No project managers, no handoff between teams, no telephone game between the person who understands the problem and the person writing the code. I learn your domain, build the right tool, and ship production software.

Almost 10 years of professional experience across TypeScript, Go, Python, Ruby, and Elixir. Full-stack, with a bias toward backend systems, APIs, and developer tooling. I've shipped production apps in Express, Rails, NestJS, Flask, FastAPI, Phoenix, and Go's standard library.

I'm not looking for long-term staff augmentation contracts. I'm looking for problems that are worth solving well.

Proof of Concept

A client came to me with a data processing problem in flow cytometry. I'd never heard of flow cytometry. Within a few months I'd learned enough of the science to build an algorithm that processed their experimental data, and the client filed a patent on the resulting system.

That's the pattern. The domain is unfamiliar, the problem is specific, and the solution requires someone willing to go deep on both the science and the software. The cross-domain part isn't the obstacle. It's the whole point.
